This is very optional, but if you'd like to unwind after class, before our evening event, these are suggested places for Happy Hour or taking an art walk around downtown. You can also head straight to Two Brothers which has a coffee bar and restaurant bar.
Art Walk: If you don't want to head to a bar, we totally understand! Meet at the East exit of the library, and take a guided walk through downtown Aurora to see some of the many murals and other artwork the area has to offer. There will be a point during the walk when you can choose to walk the rest of the way to Two Brothers Roundhouse for dinner, or head back to get your car and drive to Two Brothers.
Fancy Hour: French 75, 56 E. Galena Blvd. has signature craft cocktails and wine in a European art gallery setting. They also have fancy mocktails. Some snacks like charcuterie and cheese boards. Limited outdoor seating.
Hip Hour: McCarty Mills Taproom, 140 S. River St. Suite 108, has local craft beer and cider on tap and a variety of canned craft beer, cider and cocktails. There are non-alcoholic options. Limited snacks like oven-warmed pretzels. Some outdoor seating.
Old-school Dive Bar Hour: Miss Lee's, 215 E. Galena Blvd., is a good old bar in Aurora with a gorgeous outdoor courtyard in the back. There's also the Aurora Tap House, 134 W. Downer Pl., which boasts the longest bar in the city. They have frozen pizza and corn dogs, but no outdoor seating.
Two Brother's Roundhouse, 205 N. Broadway
Your dinner and any soft drink you'd like is paid for with your tuition, and there's a cash bar. After we eat, there will be a faculty reading. Books will also be available for purchase.
Aurora Historical Society, 3rd floor art gallery, 20 E. Downer Pl.
Our first hour will be a fun, interteractive large group writing activity lead by Kristin LaTour. The second hour will be an open mic for any participants who want to join in. Depending on how many people sign up, each reader will have 3-5 minutes to read.
